Zulqarnain Haider is back to Pakistan after 6 months
Islamabad: Zulqarnain Haider arrived back in Pakistan after self-imposed exile of nearly 6 months. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper was escorted by security personnel, at Islamabad Airport, to Interior Minister’s office. Haider is expected to meet Abdur Rehman Malik.
Haider arrived back by flight PK 786, on Monday early morning, at Islamabad Airport where his family was present to welcome him. Secruity didn’t allow Haidet to speak to media.
Haider mysteriously left Pakistan’s entourage on 8th November(2010) during Pakistan-South Africa ODI Series in UAE. He said that he was given threats by match-fixers to fix an ODI Match. After reaching London, he announced his retirement from Cricket and also applied for asylum there.
It was last week when Haider withdrew his asylum application after meeting Interior Minister of Pakisan, Abdur Rehman Malik, who assured him security in Pakistan.
PCB also formed a committee to find the reasons behind his disappearance during Pakistan-South ODI Series. Members of committee told there were no motives behind Haider’s move and they declared him “mentally ill”. Pakistan Team Manager, Intikhab Alam, also said to a local News Channel that Haider might have mental problems.
Haider made his Test debut against England last year where he also scored 88 runs. Beside one Test, Haider also played 4 ODIs and 3 T20I for Pakistan.
