Angry Fans Attack Shakib Al Hasan's House

Bangladesh's humiliating nine-wicket loss to West Indies prompted angry fans to attack Shakib Al Hasan's residence in Keshabmur.

The angry fans were riding motorcycles stopped in front of the house around 8pm on Friday and pelted brickbats at it, damaging a number of windows.

Shakib's father Mashrur Reza said, "I was not home at the time. But my wife [Shirin Reza] and daughter [Ritu Reza] were there. I came home and saw a number of windows broken on the first floor, including those of Shakib's room."

He said police were informed about it immediately.

Sadar police sub-inspector Maruf Hossain told bdnews24.com: "We're guarding his residence and looking for the attackers. Security in the area has been beefed up."

Shakib earlier declared the loss as the worst day of his career.

"We did not play good cricket at all. I did not expect that we would play so badly. I don't think we were capable of such a defeat. We are capable of much better results. Nothing went right other than winning the toss. This has to be the worst day of my career," said Shakib.
