Liverpool's Lucas Leiva Could Be Out For 6 Months

Liverpool midfielder Lucas fears that he could potentially be out for upto six months after the knee injury he suffered against Chelsea in the Carling Cup Quarter Final match on Tuesday.

Sportsmediasoultions Adrian Clarke ( @sms_adrian ) on Twitter said that he has been at the team hotel in London and Lucas fears he could be out for 6 months. But he will have a scan on his knee tomorrow.

Lucas has been instrumental for Liverpool in the last couple of weeks and has put impressive performances in the last three games, twice against Chelsea and once against Manchester City.

If Lucas's fears are true and he is indeed out for 6 months it will be a massive blow for Liverpool's top 4 aspirations, the Brazilian has been one of the most consistent performers for Liverpool over the last 2 seasons or so.

Steven Gerrard is still out injured while young midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is also on loan at Blackpool, this leaves Liverpool with just Jay Spearing, Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam in the midfield. Of the three only the inexperienced Spearing could be regarded as a like for like replacement for Lucas.
