Afridi Slams "Silly" Gambhir | Indians do not have " Large and Clean Hearts"
Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has slammed Gautam Gambhir for his "Silly" comments on the Mumbai incident and also said that Indians do not have "large and clean" heart as Pakistanis.
Speaking during a talk show on a Pakistani news channel, Afridi was asked about the relations between India and Pakistan when he responded that the Indians would "never have hearts like Muslims and Pakistanis". He even termed the talks between the two countries futile.
"They (Indians) will never have hearts like Muslims and Pakistanis. It is a very difficult thing for us to live with them (Indians) or to have long-term relationship with them. Nothing will come out of talks. See how many times in the past 60 years we have had friendship and then how many times things have gone bad," Afridi said on Sunday.
Reacting to Gambhir's gesture Afridi said: "I think they were very stupid comments by Gautam Gambhir. I was not expecting this from Gautam. This is all politics, what do you know about who carried out the Mumbai attacks?"
Gautam Gambhir had earlier said that “If we win the final, for me, it’ll be dedicated to the people who lost their lives in the 26/11 massacre,” Gambhir further said he was “sure” the win against Pakistan would have helped those affected by the attacks and that victory should be dedicated to the victims.
Gambhir earlier in an interview to Hindustan Times said.
We are aware and will give our best. And if we win the final, for me, it'll be dedicated to the people who lost their lives in the 26/11 massacre. To my mind, a win against Pakistan and a win in the final and that too in Mumbai should be dedicated to those victims.
Do you think that will soothe their pain?
I am sure the win against Pakistan would have helped. Once on a trip to Jammu, I met some army men. They told me whatever we do, whoever we play; we should never lose to Pakistan. One of them was posted at the Indo-Pak border and was so emotional that he suggested that I should have a tattoo on my body saying, "I will never lose to Pakistan".
Do you have one?
No, it's not on my body but is etched on my heart and soul.
