In an unique opening ceremony of World Cup at Bangabandhu Stadium(Dhaka) on 17th February, cricket captains of all 14 countries will have a rickshaw-ride, captains will be taken around on tri-cycles in Bangabandhu Stadium as part of opening ceremony. Perhaps this innovation illustrates the importance of rickshaws in Bangladesh. It would be interesting to see how captains like Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith, MS Dhoni, Shahid Afridi etc will look like once they are in rickshaws.

Apart from these Rickshaw-rides, Bryan Adams is all set to perform in ceremony. And opening ceremony will be opened by Sheikh Hasina in new-look Bangabandhu Stadium. Shankar, Ehsan and Loy will sing the theme song "De Ghuma Ke" before Bryan Adams steals the show. It is reported that Bangladesh Cricket Board was keen to have Shakira in opening ceremony but missed it when she asked for 2 Million Dollars.

Bangabandhu Stadium is a historic Cricketing venue, its the only stadium of World which has hosted inaugural Test of two different Test playing nations(i.e Pakistan and Bangladesh) but interesting thing is that its no longer a Cricketing venue. Its just being used for opening ceremony.
