Misbah To Remain Captain for Asia Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board has indicated that it has no plan to sack under fire captain Misbah ul Haq and he will be retained as Pakistan's captain in all three formats for the time being.

"Misbah is going to be retained as captain for the Asia Cup and there are no immediate plans to sack him as captain of the one-day or T20 squads," a PCB official was quoted as saying.

"All this talk about Misbah being replaced as captain for limited overs cricket is not correct. So far he is captain for all three formats and this issue is not even on the agenda of the governing board meeting that is due to be held on March 1," the official added.

The official also said that Dav Whatmore would reach Pakistan in the first week of Lahore while the team will fly out for the Asia Cup on March 7.

BCCI Trying To Bankrupt Pakistan & Other Boards says Zaka Ashraf

The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Zaka Ashraf has said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is trying to bankrupt the Pakistan Cricket Board and the cricket governing bodies in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Talking to a private news channel Mr. Ashraf said that despite set backs the PCB is financially stable, Zaka earlier said that the BCCI and the Indian cricket team is afraid of the Pakistan team due to their recent good performances, while in the other hand the Indian team is struggling big time since the tour of England in the summer of 2011.

“We’re ready to play against them when their prime minister and board president want the teams to play. Maybe it’s their selectors and team management who are afraid of facing Pakistan,” Ashraf had said.

Bangladesh To Tour Pakistan In April says Zaka Ashraf

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf told media today that the Bangladesh Government has allowed its team to tour Pakistan in April this year. The move comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board informed the ICC that it plans to host a Test series against Bangladesh to revive International cricket in Pakistan.

The Bangladesh Government will send a security team to take a look at the security that will be provided by Pakistan for the visiting team, Pakistan has not hosted a series at home since the 2009 Lahore attacks on the Sri Lankan cricket team.

PCB Looking For Alternative Venue For Australia Series

Despite Pakistan's brilliant performances at the adopted home venue in UAE, the Pakistan Cricket Board is looking for an alternative venue for the series against Australia starting in August this year; that keeping in mind that a series won't be possible in the searing August heat in UAE.

Pakistan have a series scheduled against Australia which will comprise of five One Day Internationals and three T20's. The PCB is still searching for a venue however the proposed Bangladesh's tour of Pakistan may alter plans.

“Our priority is to host Australia in Pakistan but that depends on the tour of Bangladesh,” an official said speaking to The Express Tribune. “We can’t play in the UAE at that time of the year, the heat will be unbearable. So we’re in the middle of rounding up alternative venues, including England and Sri Lanka, and will make a decision that works financially as well.

“UAE has been good for us results wise as well as financially. Sri Lanka gets us a decent crowd too but that’s slightly more expensive. And as we saw in 2010, people love to watch Pakistan play in England. And we have a few more options too.”

England Are Unproven Number One's says Javed Miandad

Former Pakistan test batsman Javed Miandad has questioned England's status as the number one test side in the world after Pakistan defeated them inside three days win in the first test in UAE.

"I don't believe much in rankings because it doesn't give a clear picture of the team's overall performance in the world," Miandad said talking to ESPNCricinfo. "England is mainly the top side without playing in Asia and you must give credit to Pakistan that they have been playing with no home advantage and still they are winning. England are now the No. 1 team because they had the home advantage and never lost in their backyard."

Pakistan won the first test by ten wickets after a brilliant bowling performance by star spinner Saeed Ajmal, the off spin wizard in the process took over England's Graeme Swann as the number one spinner in test cricket after replacing him in the third spot in the Test bowlers ranking.
The second test between the two sides starts on January the 25th.

Saeed Ajmal Becomes The Best Ranked Spinner In The World

Pakistan's off spin wizard Saeed Ajmal became the world's best ranked spinner a day after guiding his side to a ten-wicket victory over the number one side in the world, England.

Ajmal, 34 took his career best figures of 7-55 in the first innings ended up taking his second ten-wicket haul in test cricket after adding three more to the tally in the second innings, which paved the way for Pakistan chasing a target of just 15 runs in the second innings.

Ajmal termed his top ranking as a "great honour."

"It's a great honour to be the best spinner in the world but performing in my team's win is always more important for me than anything else,"

The International Cricket Council (ICC) added: "Ajmal earned 117 ratings points for his magnificent bowling performance, now has England's second-ranked James Anderson firmly within his sights who has 37 more ratings points."

Shahid Afridi Will Play In The Bangladesh Premier League

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi will feature in the Bangladesh Premier League if his side the Dhaka Gladiators qualify for the semi finals of the tournament, as announced by the BPL franshise.

There have been suggestions that the Pakistan all rounder won't be able to feature in the tournament because of his commitments with the Pakistan national side, who are playing England in UAE. But the Gladiators today confirmed today that Afridi will play for the side provided they reach the semi-final which is scheduled on the 28th of February.

“It has been observed that there is confusion with Dhaka Gladiator’s foreign cricketer, Shahid Afridi’s availability for the first edition of Bangladesh Premier League,” the Gladiators announced in a media release on Friday.

“This is to inform all that it has always been mentioned by the BPL Governing Body that Afridi will be only available on February 28 and 29 and the Dhaka franchise was well aware of the situation.

“The former Pakistan skipper not being available for BPL 2012 is only a rumour as both Afridi and his agent have confirmed about his presence for Dhaka Gladiators on the mentioned dates,” said the statement.

Pakistan vs England Ist Test | Live Streaming

Pakistan vs England Ist Test Dubai, 2012: Even though England are currently the number one ranked test team it will be as bigger a test for them as it will be for Pakistan. Despite being number one and being dominant at home and in Australia, England have generally been poor in Asian conditions. On the other hand Pakistan who had a very successful year where they didn't lose a test know that they faced rather mediocre sides and England will be their first real test to prove that they really are a side on the rise.

Pakistan's tour to England in 2010 ended badly, three of their players were involved in a match fixing scandal and are now serving an ICC ban and are currently in prison in UK. The tour also saw some heated verbals and even a physical confrontation between Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz and English batsman Jonathan Trott, pacer Wahab is part of the current squad too.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Live Streaming 5th ODI

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 5th ODI Live Streaming (Pak vs Sl at Abu Dhabi): Pakistan and Sri Lanka will take to the field for the fifth and final ODI of the 2011 today, although Pakistan have already snatched the series and are 3-1 up but they'll be looking to strengthen their hold on fifth place in the ICC Rankings.

Sri Lanka on the other hand would be desperate to end the series on a winning note, the Islanders have been dismal throughout the tournament and have won just one out of seven matches.

Match finished Pakistan won by 3 wickets.

Sri Lanka will be kicking themselves at the way they lost the 4th ODI, the Lankans needed 44 more runs with Jayawerdene and Sanagakkara at the crease but from then on it was all Afridi, as Sri Lanka were undone by the two Pakistani "A's" Ajmal and Afridi.

Team News:
Pakistan all rounder Abdul Razzaq has suffered a shoulder injury and won't be available for the remainder of the series. Imran Farhat is injured too. This means Junaid Khan and Asad Shafiq could both be included in the side. As for Sri Lanka Jayawerdene will miss the fifth ODI.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Live Streaming 4th ODI

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 4th ODI Sharjah Live Streaming ( Pak vs Sl Fourth ODI 2011): Pakistan will be looking to wrap up the series in Sharjah after going 2-1 up in the third match of the series at Dubai.

Pakistan put on a strong show early on in the third ODI and were 150/0 at one stage but a batting collapse meant they ended up with only 257. Sri Lanka were solid in reply until Kumara Sangakkara was run out by Shahid Afridi and Pakistan seized the initiative from there.

A 90'esque score of around 250 seems to be winning total in UAE, a feeling that was emphasized by the third ODI, Sharjah used to be the hotbed of ODI's during the 1990's but it has been eight years since two major team played an ODI there.
Team News:
Pakistan may want to give left arm pacer Junaid Khan a look in, so he could replace Sohail Tanvir. The team may drop the rather lethargic Abdul Razzaq too in favor of Shoaib Malik.

The only change Sri Lanka might make is the inclusion of pacer Welegedra in place of Dilhara Fernando who was disappointing in the last game.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Live Streaming 3rd ODI

Live Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI Streaming[ Pak vs SL ] : Sri Lanka's first victory of the tour would have come as a huge morale boost to the Lankan camp, the win also saw the return to form of Mahela Jayawerdene who has struggled throughout the tour.

With the series now level Sri Lanka would come into the match with great confidence that they can put behind hem the defeat in the test series and the humiliation in the first ODI and try to win the ODI series.

Match Finished: Pakistan won by 21 runs.

Pakistan on the other hand will be extremely disappointed at the way they lost the second ODI, they were bowled out in 46.3 overs and were 25 runs short, a target they could easily have achieved had they kept wickets. Umar Akmal hit a marvelous 91 but lost his wicket at a crucial stage. Afridi, Razzaq and Sarfaraz all got starts and were set but couldn't capitalize. Pakistan will now be looking to make amends for the their blunders in the second ODI and take the game to the Lankans.

Team News:
Pakistan are expected to stick with the same team however there are some suggestions that Sohail Tanvir might be included in place of Abdul Razzaq.

Pakistan XI (Probable): 1 Mohammad Hafeez, 2 Imran Farhat, 3 Younis Khan, 4 Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), 5 Umar Akmal, 6 Abdul Razzaq/Sohail Tanvir, 7 Shahid Afridi, 8 Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), 9 Umar Gul, 10 Saeed Ajmal, 11 Aizaz Cheema.

Chanaka Welegedra has been drafted into the squad in place of the injured Suranga Lakmal, who didn't feature in the first two ODI's so it remains to be seen whether Welegedra gets a look in or not.

Sri Lanka XI (Probable): 1 Upul Tharanga, 2 Tillakaratne Dilshan (capt), 3 Kumar Sangakkara (wk), 4 Dinesh Chandimal, 5 Mahela Jayawardene, 6 Angelo Mathews, 7 Jeevan Mendis, 8 Thisara Perera, 9 Lasith Malinga, 10 Seekkuge Prasanna, 11 Dilhara Fernando.

Video: Azhar Ali Maiden Test Century | 100 vs Sri Lanka

A gutsy maiden century from Azhar Ali took Pakistan to 281-4 at the end of the 2nd days play in the 2nd test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Stadium.

The 26-year-old Ali was well supported by veterans Younus Khan (55) and Misbah-ul-Haq (40 not out) after Pakistan lost both openers in the morning session and were uncertain at 64-2.

After the loss of the opening pair Azhar and Younus saw Pakistan to lunch at 95-2 and pushed Pakistan into the ascendancy in the second session. Azhar got to his 50 first, sweeping Herath fine for his sixth boundary.

Younus Khan was far more emphatic in reaching his landmark, hitting Dilshan over the midwicket ropes for a huge six. But Dilshan provided the Lankans the breakthrough just before tea when Younus dragged on as he tried to cut a sharp turning off-break

After Younis's departure Azhar found another sound partner in Misbah after the break and they put on a stand of 94. Azhar progressed confidently until he entered the nervous nineties. The magical moment finally came when the Lahore right-hander got a fine tickle on a sweep and scampered two, celebrating his achievement by holding both arms aloft before sinking to his knees to offer Sajda.

But Azhar couldn't add to his score as Dilshan claimed him to a questionable lbw decision just before close as he swept again. TV replays indicated Azhar got a big inside edge on the delivery.

Pakistan closed the days play leading Sri Lanka by 42 runs heading into the third days play.
