Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 1 Tips

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 1 ( 13-14 August 2011) Preview and Tips

Gameweek 1 Fixtures

Tottenham vs Everton game called off.

The new eagerly awaited Premier League season kicks off this Saturday and as usual millions of people across the globe are looking to build the best possible team on the most played football fantasy game the Fantasy Premier League.

Here are a few tips for those looking to set up their teams for Gameweek 1:

Goalkeepers:
One of the most important but often overlooked position in the fantasy team is the goal keeper, people often buy cheap players so they can put more money on strikers. But points scored by goal keepers are what separates the top players from the rest.

Joe Hart (Manchester City)
City start of their new campaign against newly promoted Swansea, expect a clean sheet.

Shay Given ( Aston Villa)
Cheap and reliable and part of a solid Villa defense.

David De Gea ( Manchester United)
Still not that expensive as he is new to Premier League, but his price may rise during the season decent option.

Defenders:
Selecting a defender is always tricky, but a good trick is to select goal scoring defenders because even if they are unable to keep a clean sheet they might get you loads of points by scoring the odd goal.

Leighton Baines (Everton)
The most expensive of all defenders in the fantasy premier league but one who is bound to get you points, if he doesn't keep a clean sheet he might score, and if he doesn't score there is always a chance that he'll pop up with an assist.

Vincent Kompanay (Manchester City)
Part of the rock solid City defense and slightly less expensive.

Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United)
Another reliable option.

David Luiz (Chelsea)
Less expensive than other Chelsea defenders but one who could be a steal even at 6.5.

Robert Huth (Stoke)
One of Stoke's most consistent performers, has a habit of scoring the odd goal too.

Danny Simpson (Newcastle)
Priced at just 4, a very decent option for those looking for a cut price defender.

Midfielders:

The Big money players:
Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)

Who to pick ? : Honestly you shouldn't just pick a player because he costs a lot, moreover Gerrard is injured while Fabregas is likely to leave Arsenal. And what about Frank ? At 12 he costs loads of money, although he scores but I'll still say don't pick him.

The Medium Ranged Players:
Luis Nani (Manchester United), Florent Malouda (Chelsea), Ashley Young (Manchester United), Dirk Kuyt (Liverpool), Van der Vaart (Tottenham), Samir Nasri (Arsenal), David Silva (Manchester City)

If you ask me you must have one from Nani or Ashley Young in your team both are part of a free scoring United team, both can score as well as pop with assists and both take set pieces. MUST HAVE.

David Silva and Van der Vaart are too other players worth a look in this category.

Upper Echelon of Low Priced Players:
Stewart Downing (Liverpool), Charles N'Zogbia( Aston Villa), Charlie Adam (Liverpool), Gareth Bale (Tottenham), Yaya Toure (Manchester City), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Mikel Arteta (Everton)

Two from the above are a must.

Bargain Buys:
Victor Mosses (Wigan), Matt Jarvis (Wolves), Adel Tarabat (QPR), Scott Sinclair (Swansea)

Strikers:
Must have:
One of the following is a must have: Luis Suarez (Liverpool), Didier Drogba (Chelsae), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) Robin Van Persie (Arsenal)

Might have:
Darren Bent (Aston Villa), Andy Carroll (Liverpool), Fernando Torres Chelsea) Gervinho (Arsenal)

Bargain Buys:
Peter Odemwinghie (West Brom), Kevin Davies (Bolton), Hugo Rodellega (Wigan), Kenwyne Jones (Stoke City)
