Police tells name of 8 arrested-bookies who threatened Zulqarnain Haider


SAMBRIAL: 8 people were arrested last night(Tuesday) who are said to be behind death threats given to Zulqarnain Haider. ”We arrested eight bookmakers yesterday and some of them have confessed they had the threatening calls made to Zulqarnain,” said Nasir Qureshi, a senior investigating officer.

Today, Sambrial Police unveiled the names of 8 bookies who were arrested, earlier these names were not leaked. The accused-bookies are Sikandar Hayat, Sarfraz Sheikh, Shahid Waheed, Muhammad Rizwan Gujjar, Ghulam Fareed Mayo, Aamir Ali Malik and Sagheer Ahmed Bhatti (resident of Bahawalpur).
Nasir Qureshi told that the police have also registered a case (No. 341/2011) under sections 13/20/65, 5/6/78, 216 and 489-B PPC against these accused-bookies.
The accused-bookies were arrested from Sambrial city during a police operation. They were found from basement of house located in Alleywali. Police also found 250 telephone sets, illegal weapons, ammunition, computer, records, fake currency and satellite phones.
Nasir Qureshi, investigation officer, also told that these bookies had links with international bookies. Bookies claimed that they had also links with players of Pakistan Cricket Team.
Amidst all these news, Zulqarnain Haider is still in Islamabad and is awaiting security clearance to leave Islamabad for Lahore.
